This passage shows 8 great relationships / roles served by Jesus. He is –

  1. He is Deity – Son of Man. Daniel 7:13-14. John 1:1-4; 14-18 et al.
  2. He is Humanity – Son of Man. Daniel 7 again. Rom. 8:3; Heb. 2:17-18; 1 Tim. 2:5-6.
  3. He is Servant – not to be served but to serve. Phil. 2:5-8.
  4. He is the Sacrifice – John 1:29; Romans 5:6-11.
  5. He is the Ransom – Jesus paid it all. Sin as debt / sin as slavery. Eph. 1:7; Col. 1:20. 1 Cor. 6:18-20; Romans 6:16-18.
  6. He is the Substitute – for – in our place / on our behalf. 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Pet. 3:18.
  7. He is the Savior – Matt. 1:21-25; Luke 19:10.
  8. He is the Example – John 13 / 1 Pet. 2:21-22.

Jesus is NOT ONE AMONG MANY RELIGIOUS OPTIONS. HE IS THE ONE AND ONLY!

Guidelines to Godliness

2 Timothy 2 contains some 7 great pictures of God’s servants.

  1. We are to be Good Stewards 2:1-2 / God is the One to Whom We Must Give Account
  2. We are to be Good Soldiers 2:3-5 / God is Commander in Chief and Captain of Salvation.
  3. We are to be Good Athletes 2:4-5 / God is Judge and Always Right
  4. We are to Be Good Farmers 2:6 / God is One who Blesses and Gives Increase
  5. We are to be Good Workmen 2:15 / God is the One Whose Approval is Sought
  6. We are to be Good Vessels 2:20-21 / God desires our Cleanness & Usefulness in His Service.
  7. We are to Be Good Servants 2:24-26 / God is Lord & Master
